Continuing Medical Education.
The Consensus team once again partnered with Boston Children’s Hospital, this time with the Department of Medical Education to help bring an extensive microsite to life . The goal of this project was clear: establish a digital identity and online presence for the Department of Medical Education for both internal and external audiences.
The Department consists of four major areas, each requiring specific capabilities and functionality within the new site. To help achieve this, the Consensus team was tasked with IA strategy, creative and development to bring the site to launch.
Based on the wide array of user goals within the department that were collected, Consensus used existing IA to strategize and document enhancements, which provided the framework for an improved user experience across all audiences.
With these IA/UX updates, the Consensus creative team took an existing microsite template and infused an engaging new design, which ensured not just an intuitive site, but a visually appealing one too. With the ability for improved functionality and excitement growing around the Department’s new look, development was the final piece to push the site to launch.
The backbone of the site experience is the robust functionality it offers across its different users and audiences. Built in WordPress, the site easily integrates with and uses a variety of plugins, mostly notably LearnDash. This WordPress Learning Management System powers the core capabilities for the site and provides the flexibility to tailor and customize advanced functionality.
With the ability to manage enrollment, user groups, online courses and testing, the LearnDash integration to the site has cut down previously labor intensive tasks and has proven to cover the wide variety of needs within the department. Coupled with a fresh and smart design, the site will only help continue to increase the digital reach and awareness of BCH’s Department of Medical Education.
